An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two children both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and one adult experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
The prosecutor stated items including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the police about his worries.
She said the man proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The prosecutor explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the authorities a second time.
She explained Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
